Brief Profile

Prof. Mellitus Nyongesa Wanyama is a full Professor of Music specializing in Ethnomusicology, Musicology and African Musicology at Kabarak University, Nakuru, Kenya. He serves as the Founding Dean of the School of Music and Media since August 2015. His exceptional skills in music and his unwavering commitment to education, research, and cultural preservation have earned him accolades and recognition both locally and internationally.

Music Education and Research

Professor Wanyama is a composer, arranger, choral trainer, choreographer, and adjudicator of music and dance. He has dedicated his life to preserving African music and promoting it globally. For over ten years, he taught Music and Dance courses at Moi University, where he was also the Founder of Music Studies. Before moving to Kabarak University, he served as the Chairman of the Panel that drafted Music courses for the School of Music and Media.
